Looking up through a canopy of mature Ayrshire woodland

North, East and South Ayrshire

Proper tree work, from Kilmarnock to the coast.

NPTC-qualified arborists. Fully insured. Sites left as we found them — minus the problem tree.

  • £10m public liability
  • NPTC & Lantra
  • SEPA waste carrier
  • Work to BS 3998

What we do

Tree work done properly, then the ground swept.

Domestic gardens, farms, estates and commercial sites — one crew, one standard.

  • Arborist high in a mature oak with climbing ropes

    Felling & dismantling

Sectional take-downs in tight gardens, roadside jobs and full woodland clearance. Rigged, controlled, and taken away the same day.

  • Arborist pruning a high branch from a climbing rope

    Crown work & pruning

Reductions, thinning and deadwooding to BS 3998 — keeping the tree’s shape, light to the house, and branches off the roof.

  • Freshly cut tree stump and wood chips

    Stump grinding

Stumps taken below ground so you can turf, plant or pave. Chips left as mulch or removed — your call.

  • Fallen tree across a rural Ayrshire lane after a storm

    Storm & emergency

Trees on roofs, blocked drives, hanging limbs. A crew on call through the night when the weather turns.

  • Precisely cut beech hedge beside a gravel path

    Hedges

Beech, leylandii, mixed screens — reduced, reshaped or removed. Clean lines and the arisings chipped on site.

  • Close-up of mossy Scottish oak bark

    Surveys & advice

Written reports, TPO and conservation-area guidance, ash dieback assessments. Straight answers before any saw starts.

How we work

Climbing tickets, boarded lawns, and a price that does not move.

Ayrshire Tree Services is a climbing crew first. We dismantle what cannot be felled, we reduce what should stay, and we grind what is left. No subcontracted surprises — the people who quote are the people on the ropes.

  • Quoted on the ground

We walk the job, look at access, the drop zone and the neighbours’ fences. The price we give is the price we do.

  • Work to the standard

Climbing and pruning follow BS 3998. Crews hold NPTC / Lantra tickets, aerial rescue and first aid.

  • Grounds left tidy

Lawns boarded, borders respected, arisings chipped or taken. Logs stacked if you want them. We do not leave a mess.

  • Covered, properly

£10 million public liability, SEPA-registered waste carrier. Paperwork on request before we start.

  1. 01Look

A free site visit — usually within a couple of days. Photos and a clear scope if we cannot get there first.

  2. 02Quote

A written figure covering labour, plant, disposal and any traffic management. Valid for 30 days.

  3. 03Work

A booked morning slot. Climbing, rigging or MEWP as the tree needs. You will know who is coming.

  4. 04Tidy

Chip, haul, sweep. Stump ground if you asked. Site walked with you before we leave.

Recent work

Jobs finished, ground swept.

From the garden gate

What neighbours say.

  • They took a dying ash down over the conservatory without a mark on the glass. The lawn was boarded, the chips were gone, and they were away by lunch.
    Fiona M. Troon
  • Straight quote, no upsell. Three leylandii reduced in a morning and the path swept. Will use them again for the oak at the back.
    Callum R. Kilmarnock
  • A limb came down on the drive in the January storm. They were here before nine, made it safe, and came back to finish the tree properly the next week.

Questions

Straight answers before the saw starts.

Do I need permission to have a tree taken down?

If the tree is in a conservation area, or carries a Tree Preservation Order, yes — the council must be notified or an application made. We check this on the survey and can handle the paperwork. No TPO is not a free-for-all on a neighbour’s tree; we only work with the owner’s say-so.

Will you take the wood away?

As standard, arisings are chipped and removed. If you want logs for the burner we will cut and stack them. Stump grindings can stay as mulch or go with us.

How soon can you come?

Surveys are usually within two to four working days. Storm-damaged or dangerous trees are same-day where we can, including evenings and weekends.

Are you insured?

Yes. £10 million public liability, and every climber holds current NPTC / Lantra tickets plus aerial rescue. Certificates are emailed with the quote.

Do you work on Arran?

Yes, by arrangement — we run a dedicated day when there is a full book, or come over for urgent work. Ferry and time on island are itemised in the quote.

What about ash dieback?

We survey, report and remove infected ash before it becomes brittle. If you have a roadside or parkland belt we can phase the work so it does not all come down at once.
